An Exploration of the Destination

To walk in the steps of those far greater than me

Is an honour I feel I don't deserve yet will gladly strive for

To follow their stride forward in the pursuit of common values is a path most admirable

But what if I have been led astray? And others follow me, down a path that leads toward a worse world?

I should take the path alone, to avoid this error, but I believe I am correct, if I am should others not follow the road to salvation? Perhaps the possibility of suffering is the toll a nation must pay.

But there's a road paved with good intentions, and what if I'm the blind leading the stupid? What use is there in following the lead of others who died before they reached the end? To what end? We strive for an ideal and end up in a worse hell.

The road to damnation. Ignorant to the signs. All I can do is walk, one step at a time, and if others follow that's on them, I just hope they know I've walked the path I truly believed, no matter where it leads. I followed the lead of others who came before me, and now others come before me and ask me to lead them. Just as I made my choice they make theirs.

A community of stupidity. At least if we burn we burn together, and if we reach heaven we're all blessed forever. I wish the others, on different paths, good fortune on their journey, but it's tragedy and mourning in knowing we cannot all walk in different directions and each reach the same ideal destination.

But it is foolish to not see, that the choice is not always free, people will be dragged down the road I praise in social chains. And if it ends in destitution, death, destruction, and disillusion then revolution is only natural, please hang me for the crimes of my actions rather than forgive me for my intentions.

And then you revolutionaries can learn from my mistakes, and each take a new path, hoping it doesn't lead back to all the same tragedy we all hoped to escape. Perhaps there is no escape, but better to walk than to stand, better strive as either way we all die.

Climb the staircase, reach the gates, and hopefully when you grasp the bars, you realize it's a door leading you in, instead of locked, keeping you outside, finding that the journey was a lie.

Walk, stride, strive

Lead, follow, try

Achieve, fail, die

All one step at a time.

Toward a hoped-for destination

Blind to which direction

An infinite and futile attempt

Always made regardless

To tempt fate is in our hearts

Less we let go of our humanity

Heaven is what we long for

Hell is what we escape from

An infinite and futile attempt

It's pointless to resist

Even if a new direction is taken

It's all the same in the end

It's been so from the start

To walk is to suffer, reaching for the sun

To stop is to suffer, with no chance of relief

The walk is our religion,

the direction is our ideology,

The end is a myth,

we will go to war over these differences,

yet we end up with,

what we always had,

never nothing more.

Let your heels hit the floor
