The Logo of Connor's Consciousness

Open Up Your Third Eye...

Some may be curious as to the meaning behind the details of the logo seen on the home page. It is meant to capture what my "third eye" would encompass.

The Pupil:

The center circle, or pupil, is dissected by an X shape. This shape represents the supply and demand graph to represent the economic side of my work. More broadly than this, it conveys the importance of opposite forces coming together towards equilibrium and represents complex social processes that come to optimal outcomes.

The four quadrants created by the X are reminiscent of the political compass often used to separate and sort people's political ideological identities. The lines rank people on the vertical according to their preferred size and structure of government, large and authoritarian or small and libertarian, and on the horizontal according to their preference for a collectivist/left economic structure or an individualist/free-market economic structure.

Within the pupil are six circles. The larger circles are heads and the smaller ones are hands. The idea here abstractly represents the visual of a person, from above, looking at themselves in a mirror with their palms against the glass. This imagery represents the reflection aspect of my work on this site.

The Iris:

the Iris is made up of two C's, or one three-dimensional C depending on one's perspective, representing the site/project title: Connor's Consciousness.

However thogether they also form a Venn Diagram, an important tool for comparing and contrasting when attempting to understand something.

The Outline:

The outline of the eye is made up of other, regular, eyes. This is meant to represent the many different perspectives that will be engaged with throughout this project. It is also meant to represent society as people of different perspectives all linked together in a social chain. This chain creates order, structure, and stability, but is also constraining, both to the people linked together and that which they wrap around.

The Third Eye:

Overall, the logo represents the purpose of this site/project. That is, to enage deeply with ideas in philosophy, politics, and economics, with social issues, and to engage in deep reflections on my life experiences. By doing all of these things, I am attempting to expand my consciousness and open my "third eye".

Background:

I spent a long time trying to visualize everything this site/project was meant to be into one image/logo. Here are some rough drafts/sketches of the logo. Also, thank you to my mother for helping me make the logo and the site.
